How to Clean Up Browser’s Cookies, Cache and History for a More Faster Computer

As you browse the web, your browser stores a copy of the websites you visit in its cache and saves cookies from those websites to your computer. These cached files and cookies can take up a significant amount of space on your hard drive and can slow down your browsing experience.

Google Chrome

To clean up your cache, cookies, and history in Google Chrome:

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser window and select “History” from the menu.
  2. Click the “Clear browsing data” button.
  3. In the “Clear browsing data” window, select the types of data you want to remove from the cache and the time range for which you want to remove it. You can select “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” to remove cookies and the cache.

Mozilla Firefox

To clean up your cache, cookies, and history in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Click the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the browser window and select “Options” from the menu.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click “Privacy & Security”.
  3. Scroll down to the “Cookies and Site Data” section and click the “Manage Data” button.
  4. In the “Manage Cookies and Site Data” window, select the cookies and site data that you want to remove and click the “Remove Selected” button.
  5. To clear the cache, scroll down to the “Cached Web Content” section and click the “Clear Now” button.

Microsoft Edge

To clean up your cache, cookies, and history in Microsoft Edge:

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser window and select “History” from the menu.
  2. Click the “Clear history” button.
  3. In the “Clear browsing history” window, select the types of data you want to remove from the cache and the time range for which you want to remove it. You can select “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” to remove cookies and the cache.
